'North Shields Town NE29 an area of North Tyneside in North East England'

North Shields is a working fishing port on the North East coast of England. It is a busy area with strong community links. The North East of England sits on the original line of Hadrian's Wall and the end of the ancient Roman Empire. This region of 'Northumbria' holds a unique beauty which in most part lies undiscovered. These North East pages provide links to Tyneside for Business, the Arts, Tourism, and Culture.

From the 1800's to 2000 the area has displayed the highest growth and development. This growth continues through agencies such as The Northern Development Company, Tyne and Wear Development Company and now OneNorthEast. The local municipal councils are supporting the many millennium projects in the area which include Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend and Centre for Life at Newcastle.

In 1987 Hadrian's Wall and it's associated features were designated a 'World Heritage Site'. Consequently the eastern terminus fort at Segedunum was excavated and these sections of the Wall must be considered as the most important historical monument to be found in the North, with both National and International significance.
